We are a team of researchers who investigate questions around local climate impact adaptation in the research project "ParKli - Participatory Climate Research". In doing so, we deal specifically with questions that arise from the consequences of climate change occurring on our own doorstep. For example: How can we protect our local waters from the consequences of climate change? How can we make life in Stuttgart livable despite the consequences of climate change?

Since it has long been clear to us that scientists cannot answer such questions alone, we are dependent on the support of committed citizens. We, therefore, invite interested parties to join us in our research! Do you see climate change as a central problem on your own doorstep? Would you like to point out where exactly we are already feeling the effects of climate change today? Then you are welcome to support us in the following roles:

Climate detectives wanted! (m/f/d)

  • Would you like to join us in our search for evidence and help us collect local environmental data?
  • What data exactly? We are interested in the consequences of climate change on lakes, rivers, parks, gardens, forests, as well as native animal and plant species. Therefore, we present you mobile applications that can help you record important data about occurrences and conditions in our environment. For example, you can help us during your walk by taking photos of lakes or parks and sending us information about environmental changes.
  • How does the participation work? You register with us via email as an interested climate detective (see below for details). You will then become part of a group of interested people who will be invited to an introductory meeting at the end of each month. There you will learn details about the tasks, the mobile applications and the process. Afterwards, you can become active and collect data. If you are interested in exchanging ideas with other participants as well as the ParKli project team, we will invite you to an exchange approximately every 4-6 weeks.
  • Expectations:
    • A desire to do citizen science
    • Enjoy collecting data and thus contributing to research
    • Mobile device with the ability to install apps
    • Interest in providing feedback and suggestions.
  • Target group: adults, young people, children, families
  • Einsatzort: Region Stuttgart und online
  • Location: Stuttgart region and online
  • Field of commitment: environmental, nature and climate protection
  • Time frame: starting immediately, from 30 min per week
  • Does this sound interesting to you? Then please contact us by mail to parkli [at] os4os.eu with the subject "Climate detectives". We are looking forward to working with you!

Citizen advisory board wanted! (m/f/d)

  • We would like to set up a citizens' advisory board for our project to give us suggestions and practical feedback. We are looking forward to committed supporters!
  • You will support us in...
    • describe problem areas in a "citizen-oriented" way,
    • prioritize problem areas,
    • contribute your own ideas and experiences,
    • give us feedback and suggestions for our project steps,
    • jointly develop local solutions for climate adaptation.
  • Expectations:
    • Interest in learning new things,
    • an open mind and enjoyment of exchanging ideas,
    • a desire for (citizen) science,
    • time to exchange ideas with us every 4-6 weeks for about 2h,
    • and occasionally give us feedback and suggestions in between.
  • Target group: adults / young people
  • Location: Stuttgart region and online
  • Field of engagement: environmental, nature and climate protection
  • Time frame: starting immediately, from 1 hour per week
  • You would like to be part of the ParKli citizen advisory board? Then please contact us by email at parkli [at] os4os.eu with the subject "Citizen advisory board". We look forward to exchanging ideas with you!

Water experts wanted! (m/f/d)

  • Although we bundle broad expertise (environmental informatics, environmental psychology, architecture, design, political science) in our project team, we do not yet have a distinctive experience and knowledge concerning the monitoring of climate-related impacts on local water bodies. Therefore, we are currently looking for water experts (e.g. from the fields of limnology, water protection, biology, chemistry, ...)
  • We invite interested experts to participate in our research! Do you see the consequences of climate change on local waters as a central problem and would like to become active? Then support us with your expertise in describing problem areas "close to the people", prioritizing issues, contributing your own knowledge and experience, and jointly developing local solutions for climate adaptation of water bodies with us. We look forward to scientifically sound and practical feedback!
  • Expectations:
    • Expertise in the area of water bodies and climate change adaptation,
    • interest in providing feedback and suggestions to the project team,
    • if applicable, interest in exchanging ideas with citizen scientists
    • time to exchange ideas with us about every 4-6 weeks for about 2 hours.
  • Target group: Adults (experts from practice or science)
  • Location: Stuttgart region and online
  • Field of engagement: environmental, nature and climate protection
  • Time frame: starting immediately, from 30 min per week
  • Does this sound interesting to you? Then please contact us by mail to parkli [at] os4os.eu with the subject "water experts". We are looking forward to working with you!!
