What do we mean by Open Science?

For us, open science is transparent science, which permits easy access to research results to an ever-growing number of interested parties such as companies and citizens, for better potential reusability of such data.

What do we mean by Open Society?

For us, Open Societies signifies an active commitment from civil society and companies to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between research and society and to bring new impulses to science and to society alike.

Why did we create open science for open societies?

Our society is confronted with rapid changes and needs to adapt to new requirements. We live in a fully networked world where we have to perceive systems in a holistic way. Many people already feel overwhelmed by this and show it quite clearly. In the future, the scientific value chain needs to go far beyond current approaches.

Open science is more than just storing research results in repositories. We have to give more thought to their re-use: We need to make broader use of research results, integrating them when building new business models, and introducing innovations into society as a whole. From our point of view, openness, access, and reusability are central starting points.

We join forces

We are a team of scientists, research managers, and media experts with many years of professional experience at universities and research institutes. Consequently, we are active on a European and international level alike, embedded within an extensive network.
